Head Coach

Robert Caraballo enters his second season as the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Freedom High School, and fourth year overall at Freedom after serving as a varsity assistant, director of basketball operations and head junior varsity coach for the Boys Basketball program

His duties with Freedom Boys Basketball consisted of: on-floor coaching, coordinating game-day statistics, player development, game and practice preparation, scouting, leading off-season basketball activities and as well as coaching the junior varsity team. He also handled several responsibilities behind the scenes to maintain the success of the program.

Prior to joining the Freedom coaching staff, Coach Rob enjoyed a successful stint as the head girls varsity basketball coach at Sonrise Christian School in Polk County where he helped to re-establish the program after the school's five-year hiatus from FHSAA competition.

Before becoming the head coach at Sonrise, Caraballo was the head boys JV coach  and middle school coach at The Master’s Academy in Oviedo.  During that time at Master’s, he helped lead a turnaround for the program as he doubled the win total of the middle school team in just his first year and led the JV team to a .500 record after three winless seasons prior to his arrival.

His coaching experience before Master’s include Head JV Girls Coach at Oviedo High School, club basketball head coaching stints, as well as serving as Student Assistant Coach/Head Manager for the Boys Basketball program at Cypress Creek High School.

Coach Rob is a very loyal and dedicated coach, that firmly believes in building relationships, personal responsibility, and a commitment to excellence on and off the court. He has introduced a brand of basketball at Freedom that he calls "Two-Five Basketball"; it is the idea and understanding that it takes a cooperative commitment from everyone involved within the program in order to work towards the goal and achieve success.

In addition to his responsibilities as Head Girls Basketball Coach, Coach Rob also works on campus in a Support Services role in the Dean's Office and as a Digital Media Associate for a local organization.

Away from basketball, Coach Rob enjoys spending time with his family, serving as a youth leader at his church, and catching up on the latest movies. Originally from New York City, Coach Rob is a diehard Yankee fan as well as a North Carolina Tar Heel Basketball fan.
